Susan Lucci, 77, Commands Catwalk in Glam Green Gown at Dennis Basso's New York Fashion Week Show
Designer Dennis Basso paid tribute to his friend of 30 years by inviting her to close out his Spring/Summer 2025 NYFW show
Susan Lucci just made her return to the New York Fashion Week runway.
The All My Children star walked the Dennis Basso Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show on Monday, Sept. 9. The 77-year-old wore a couture gown designed especially for her.
The elegant pastel green form-fitting gown included a strapless pleated effect, exposing her décolletage, and a translucent cape-like shawl. Her sophisticated spring look was topped off with bronze open-toe pumps and dangle drop earrings. Basso called the ensemble he Lucci wore “a streamlined silhouette,” per The New York Times.
Lucci was invited by the fashion house to close out the show and serve as the Sept. 9 finale, as Basso, 69, wanted to commemorate the pair’s 30-year friendship, per the NYT. She shared an Instagram that same day, providing a peek at her dressing room.
“Well, I’m just arriving for fashion week. I am so excited to be doing the finale of Dennis Basso’s fabulous Spring fashion show,” she began. “Spring we do here in September, and I’m so thrilled to be a part of it. So excited that Dennis asked me to walk the runway with him and be in the finale!
She captioned the post: “My first runway walk Fashion Week!!!????????????????????????????????????????. @Dennis Basso??. #thefinale!!!
Ahead of her return to the runway, Lucci told the New York Times that 2024 NYFW is her “runway redemption tour,” in reference to the time she fell during the Go Red for Women at NYFW 2019.
Her return five years later coincides with Basso’s partnership with QVC to toast the “Age of Possibility.” The live shoppable entertainment company will feature pieces from Basso’s namesake line as well as items from his brand for the shopping channel.
“This collection is inspired by our clientele, which spans three generations,” Basso said, per Forbes. “We are now dressing the daughter and the granddaughter of the original client. Our customer is very sophisticated; she knows what she can wear. My goal is to make a woman look beautiful at every age.”
