Sweetpea Teaser Trailer Shows Ella Purnell’s ‘Coming-of-Rage Story’
Ella Purnell has been getting really angry lately — “like, really angry.” STARZ has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Sweetpea, an upcoming “coming-of-rage” drama based on C.J. Skuse’s cult novel of the same name.
Fresh off her starring roles in Yellowjackets and Fallout, the actress can next be seen in Sweetpea as Rhiannon Lewis, whose narration in the newly released trailer tells viewers: “People don’t really see me, not at all actually. Lately, I’ve been getting really angry. Like, really angry.”
The 34-second teaser shows Purnell with blood splattered all over her white shirt as she screams cathartically. It was then revealed that the series will arrive this October.
What is Sweetpea about?
Written and executive produced by Kirstie Swain, the six-part series will center on the wallflower Rhiannon, who is on the brink of losing herself — replaced by a woman who is seemingly capable of doing anything, even the unthinkable.
The official synopsis reads: “Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression — people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?”
In addition to Purnell, who also executive produces the upcoming series, Sweetpea also stars Nic?le Lecky (Sense8) as Julia, Jon Pointing (Big Boys) as Craig, Calam Lynch (Bridgerton) as AJ, Leah Harvey (Foundation) as Marina, Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso) as Norman, and Dustin (Slow Horses) Demri-Burns as Jeff.
No exact release date has been set yet for Sweetpea, but it is coming to STARZ this October.
