How Sydney Sweeney, Katie Holmes and More Stars Are Bringing Back the Peekaboo Bra Trend
Natalie Portman, Sydney Sweeney and Katie Holmes are just a few of the stars trying out the peekaboo bra trend this year after the style had a major moment in 2023.
Bra tops, of course, are nothing new: Jean Paul Gaultier’s groundbreaking cone bra became synonymous with one of its first celebrity wearers, Madonna, in the 1980s. The pop icon flouted fashion norms by turning underclothes into day clothes, making a splash on the typically straight-laced Cannes Film Festival red carpet in one of Gaultier’s sultry sets.

Natalie Portman
Portman appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” earlier this year in a little black Versace dress featuring a structured skirt and an exposed sheer bralette. The “May December” star, styled by Ryan Hastings, accessorized with heeled Jimmy Choo sandals.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attended Valentino’s spring 2024 couture show in Paris wearing a full look by the Italian label, which included a matching sequined bralette and maxiskirt paired with an oversize peak lapel blazer.
Katie Holmes
While attending Michael Kors’ fall 2024 presentation at New York Fashion Week, Holmes opted for a black lace ensemble layered over a bra. The actress also added on an oversize blazer, white open-toe heels and sheer tights.
Kristen Stewart
For a pre-Oscar dinner, Kristen Stewart wore Chanel head to toe, pairing a sheer button-up blouse with white shorts and a layered bralette. The actress completed her look with leather high-heeled boots.
Sydney Sweeney
Sweeney’s glamorous take on the peekaboo bra trend included rhinestoned cups and off-the-shoulder straps. Her pale blue silk Miu Miu gown featured a floor-length train.
