The tenor for the upcoming South by Southwest Film & TV Festival took on a dark and thrilling key change Wednesday when the festival announced its final slate of films and TV programming.

Dev Patel goes full John Wick in the vengeance thriller “Monkey Man,” which the “Slumdog Millionaire” star directed and co-wrote. The moody and adrenalized actioner finds Patel’s character on a mission to find the people responsible for his mother’s death.

In a tale of a totally different kind of mother, enigmatic bombshell Sydney Sweeney plays a nun who, after being impregnated, faces holy hell in “Immaculate,” directed by Michael Mohan, who helmed the 2021 Sweeney-led thriller “Voyeurs.”

The two titles, both having their world premieres, lead the roster of films most recently announced by SXSW. A rep from the festival said SXSW could not confirm attending talent until Friday but hoped to have Sweeney, Patel and “Monkey Man” producer Jordan Peele in town for the festival.

Lightening the mood considerably is “Y2K,” a 90s-set high school comedy from Saturday Night Live’s Kyle Mooney.

The three new headliners bring the film line up to 115 features, including 89 world premieres, which also include the newly announced documentary, “The Truth vs. Alex Jones,” which details the two historic trials brought by the Sandy Hook families for his role in spreading misinformation.

The TV track will also feature seven premieres, including Gotham Chopra’s “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story;” and a quartet of pilots from UT and SXSW alumni Mark and Jay Duplass.
