T.I. Arrested In Mistaken Identity Case At Airport
T.I. was arrested Sunday night at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Airport in an apparent case of mistaken identity, per TMZ.
TIP, né Clifford Harris, was mistaken for another man of the same name who was wanted by authorities, according to an arrest warrant filed in June in Baltimore, Maryland.
Harris’ name doppelg?nger is allegedly wanted for their involvement in a domestic case that involves stalking, abusing, and allegedly pulling a firearm on a woman.
As for the rapper, he was detained and transported from the airport to the Clayton County jail. Due to the warrant being issued outside of Georgia, an automatic extradition hearing was initiated.
Steve Sadow, TIP’s attorney, expressed to the outlet that he had the emcee released from jail 2 hours after being arrested. The outlet notes that the Clayton County Sherriff’s Office has since dismissed the extradition order.
Additionally, Clifford Harris of Baltimore reportedly weighs 205 pounds, while T.I. reportedly weighs around 165 pounds.
Elsewhere, July saw TIP and his wife, Tiny, asking a judge to dismiss a sexual assault suit by an Air Force member. The Blast reported that the couple were sued by a Jane Doe from the Air Force, accusing them of assaulting her in 2005.
Doe claimed that she met the couple at a club at the time. She alleged that the rapper offered her a drink before extending an invitation to come back with them to their hotel in Los Angeles. Jane Doe alleged that T.I.’s behavior changed upon arrival at the hotel, as he ordered “instruction for how the remainder of the night was going to go.”
After getting in the shower with Tiny and T.I., Doe began feeling lightheaded, and she was convinced that T.I. spiked her drink “for the purpose of sexually assaulting and battering her.” Doe stated that she was 22 at the time of the alleged encounter.
“The facts, as alleged, reflect that [Doe] voluntarily and consciously participated in the encounter up to the point when she said ‘no’ and removed herself from the bed with Defendants,” T.I. and Tiny’s lawyer told the outlet. The lawyer insisted that the couple honored her “expressed a desire to leave the encounter, go to the bathroom, sit on a couch until the morning, and then leave.”
Tiny and TIP also argued that the statute of limitations expired over ten years ago.
