T.I. Says Upcoming Final Album Will Explore Multiple Different Genres
Last week, T.I. confirmed that his upcoming album will be a double album and the last he ever releases. The 43-year-old rapper recently shared more details about the project, including the fact he will be exploring genres beyond Hip-Hop.
Tip joined The Baller Alert Show on Friday (Oct. 20) and was honest about the fact Kill The King is not yet finished. “I’m working my way up to it,” he said. “I been making some music, and the music I’m making is… how can I say? It’s expanding beyond just the concept that I have for my last album.”
Though it isn’t finished, the Atlanta rapper already has a good sense of how it feels and will sound. “So my last album is Kill the King, which will be, you know, it’s gon’ be edgy, energetic,” he said. “It’s gon’ have a lot of Tip in it… but I’ve been making somewhat, I guess, more melodic, you know, more R&B vibes, Afrobeat-R&B vibe, party music.”
Last week, he joined the We In Miami podcast and revealed that NBA YoungBoy will be featured on the album and the song would be something that fans had never heard from either of them before. This comes several months after he first announced the album title, Kill The King, to TMZ.
“It’s a representation of killing the ego,” he said back in February. “I feel like the King of the South moniker, you know, is very egotistical, self-gratuitous, and it’s a persona that kind of enters the room before I do physically.” With this being his farewell, and his intent on making various types of music, he confirmed that there will be a B-Side to the album called Kiss The King.
He also spoke on the collaborative project with Boosie Badazz which was teased last fall and ultimately shelved. “The time that we had allotted for it we kinda passed by it,” the ATL actor said. “It was ready, we got the records. It’s so much that goes into releasing a record besides just releasing a record.” Check out the interview below.
