So what exactly is the Tacos & Tequila Music Fest? This is what we know.
Margaritas, craft beer and fusion wrestling
A Google search reveals that while the event is new to the Akron-Canton area, similar festivals take place across the country.
Names vary subtly. The Tacos & Tequila Music Festival is set for Aug. 26 at Lonestar Amphitheater in Lubbock, Texas, featuring bands in the rock music genre, including Incubus, Third Eye Blind, Badflower and Black Stone Cherry.
Meanwhile, the Tequila & Taco Music Festival is a traveling music festival in California.
What's coming to Stark County appears to be a singular event.
Gates open at 2 p.m. for what's described as an "on-field, all-encompassing" festival tailored to taco and tequila enthusiasts. Entertainment also includes Lucha Xtreme professional wrestling matches. Lucha Xtreme is a fusion of American professional wrestling and lucha libre, a style of wrestling originating in Mexico.
Drinks and grub will be in abundance. Local food trucks, taco stands, vendors, themed concessions and bars will be featured. Specialty cocktails, margaritas, tequila samplings and craft beer will be served.
Who are the Ying Yang Twins?
The Ying Yang Twins are a hip hop duo comprised of Kaine and D-Roc.
Entering the music scene in the early 2000s, the artists achieved mainstream notoriety when collaborating with Britney Spears on the song "(I Got That) Boom Boom" in 2003 and with Lil Jon on "Get Low."
"Salt Shaker," a catchy, beat-heavy club tune, has racked up 100 million views on YouTube. The song was released in 2003.
Also taking the stage will be Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Twista and T.I.
According to Apple music, T.I. (Clifford Harris) is a pioneer in the hip-hop subgenre of trap music and Southern street rap. T.I. was dubbed "the JAY-Z of the South" by Pharrell Williams upon the release of the 2001 debut album, "I'm Serious."
Known for the songs "Whatever You Like," and "Bring Em Out," T.I. boasts 21 million followers on Facebook.
Ross' rap career began around 2006 and has continued with recent releases, including the 2022 album "Richer Than I Ever Been" and the 2023 single "Sola." He's also a record executive.
Another rapper is Twista, who was entered into the 1992 Guinness Book of Records for being the fastest rapper in history at a rate of 11.2 syllables per second. Popular songs for the Grammy winner include "Overnight Celebrity," which has attracted 16 million views on YouTube, and his song "Slow Jamz" features Kanye West.
