Tammy Slaton garnered a massive following when she shared her story on the TLC series 1000-Lb. Sisters. The series chronicled the lives of she and her sister, Amy Slaton, both of whom were overweight, coming in at over 1,000 pounds combined.
Their individual weight loss journeys pulled viewers in, with Amy’s desire to have children but being unable to due to her weight being a storyline people empathized with.
Additionally, their comedic personalities in the midst of their struggle made them automatic stars. Today, both women have made major strides in their weight loss journeys, and just recently, Tammy detailed the extent of her progress on social media.

Slaton, now 38-years-old, duetted a video on TikTok revealing her major weight loss accomplishment. The video, which was originally posted by user @transformingteresamarie, documented the weight loss of many women, who she referred to in the caption as “Weight-loss warriors!”
Slaton steps into the frame wearing a red shirt, where the text over the video reveals she is down 500 pounds. In her duet of the video, in which Andra Day’s “Rise Up” is playing in the background, Tammy wrote over it, “Truly absolutely amazing ladies and I’m happy to call y’all all my friends. I’m so proud of each and everyone of y’all not only are you beautiful on the inside but your gorgeous on the outside never forget.”
Tammy Slaton’s weight loss journey has been tough
Achieving her goal weight of 550 pounds in order to qualify for weight loss surgery from the beginning of the show was a difficult battle. Various stays at food addiction facilities, as well as health scares, played a part in her journey, but in a 2023 episode of the show, she revealed to viewers that she actually came in under that number at 534.7 pounds.
In the summer of 2022, Tammy underwent bariatric surgery, and the results have been more than she could have ever hoped. “The process of getting approved for surgery wasn’t easy,” she revealed to Us Weekly in 2023.
“I worked my butt off,” she said. “I was starving a lot of the time and my hard work paid off.” We wish Tammy the best of luck as her health journey continues!
