Taron Egerton transforms into Elton John in first 'Rocketman' trailer
If you were blown away by Taron Egerton’s take on “I’m Still Standing” — via animated gorilla avatar — in 2016’s Sing, trust this: You ain’t seen nothing yet.
The Welsh actor shows off his spectacular chops — as in, singing abilities and bushy, ’70s-era sideburns — as Elton John in the just-released teaser trailer for the Rocketman biopic. Due out in 2019, the film also stars Richard Madden (Cinderella, Game of Thrones) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom).
Though he’s best known for playing a street-smart 007 type in the Kingsman series, Egerton is uncanny as John at the height of his fame. And while a wardrobe of oversized eyeglasses, flowing paisley robes, and blinged-out stagewear would help anyone serve up “Crocodile Rock” vibes, it’s the actor’s ability to convincingly sing and be a piano powerhouse that is most impressive.

Just ask John himself: The legendary performer and husband David Furnish are both producers on the film.
