Tate McRae and the Kid Laroi nearly landed in 'a whale's mouth' in Jet Ski accident
"Jet Skis are the worst."
The Kid Laroi and Tate McRae had a close encounter with a whale — a little too close for comfort, actually — over the summer.
The accident happened when she and her beau were out on a Jet Ski that he was driving, McRae said Wednesday night on The Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill. They fell off at one point.
"It was like 10 feet away!" the Canadian singer recalled. "It was the big moment of our trip. I was like, 'We just landed maybe in a mouth, a whale's mouth."
When the host jokingly asked McRae if she had since banned Laroi from driving any sort of vehicle, she said that she "didn't realize what I was getting myself into" when she rode with him.
"You know, you have trust in your boyfriend," she added. "But also, I'm just, like, Jet Skis are the worst. They flip over like every two seconds."
McRae, who laughed throughout the interview, isn't a fan of falling into the sea.

"That's so freaky to me! The ocean is just a very freaky thing to me," McRae said. "You're just in there and it's black, and your...toes are dangling. That's so weird. I got that feeling when we fell in the water...You get tingly at the bottom of your feet. And you're like, We could die right now."
Hill also asked McRae about having performed with Laroi at her Madison Square Garden concert in August.

She began dating the Australian rapper and singer-songwriter earlier this year. PEOPLE reported that he confirmed their relationship in April when he called her his "girlfriend" at a concert in April.
