Taylor Momsen says she'll need rabies shots for 2 weeks after being bitten by a bat onstage
Taylor Momsen has been dubbed a "bat girl" by hospital workers following a wild onstage encounter with a bat.
While performing with her band, The Pretty Reckless, in Seville, Spain, the former “Gossip Girl” star, 30, noticed a bat had latched onto her leg when the audience began screaming and pointing.
In a video shared to Instagram May 31, Momsen says, “You guys are pointing at something and I don’t know what you’re seeing.”
She then takes a step back to examine her body before turning to the crowd to say, “Oh my God! There’s a f------ flying bat on my leg right now. Can someone help me please?”
Momsen throws her head back laughing and shrieks into the microphone as crew members come to remove the bat.
“Gracias!” she continues. “It’s alright! And the bat’s fine. He’s going to be my new friend.”
In a caption, Momsen wrote, “So…ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT…in Sevilla Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg…in the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing…”
She continued, "he was cute, but yes he bit me…so rabies shots for the next two weeks."
The video also featured shots of Momsen at the hospital, a picture of the bat bite and a clip of a nurse administering an injection into the singer's leg.
Concluding the post, Momsen shared, "thanks to all the staff at the hospital who dubbed me #batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning…more footage to come…that’s one for the books!!!!"
In a follow-up video from the band, Momsen is walking backstage reacting to the unexpected bite.
"Dude, I just got f------ witch's burn. A bat flew onto me and held on for dear life and he was very cute but I really don't want a rabies shot and he scared the s--- out of me and he wanted to be my friend," she said, laughing.
Fans in the comments of her first video of the bat encounter couldn't get enough of how Momsen handled the moment.
"Taylor is so chill about it," one person wrote.
Another commented, "This is the most rock n roll, witchy thing that has ever happened and I’m obsessed (and also happy you’re ok!)."
"You might have superpowers now!" another commented, adding the crying-laughing emoji.
