Welcome to the oil business. In a new trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s latest drama, Landman, Billy Bob Thornton rolls out the red carpet for a new adventure in West Texas. He’ll play a character named Tommy Norris, who works as a crisis manager for the oil industry. “The oil and gas industry makes three billion dollars a day in pure profit, and it’s only getting bigger,” he says. “But before any of that money is made, you got to secure the land and manage the people. That’s my job.” Yellowstone may be over as we know it it, but Landman is waiting just around the corner.
Based on the podcast Boomtown, the series will reportedly follow “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.” Thornton, who previously portrayed gunslinger Jim Courtright on 1883, will serve as the titular “Landman.”
Who Else Will Star on Landman?
Demi Moore (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans), will play the “wife to one of the most powerful oil men in Texas,” according to Variety. Jon Hamm (Fargo) is also set to join as Monty Miller, a “titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris.” Additional cast members include Andy Garcia (Pain Hustlers), Michael Pe?a (Jack Ryan), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Michelle Randolph (1923), Ali Larter (The Rookie), Jacob Lofland (Joker: Folie à Deux), Mark Collie (Nashville), Paulina Chávez (The Long Game), and Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart).
“Demi Moore is an iconic and extraordinary talent,” said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “We are thrilled to have her join Billy Bob Thornton and the star-studded cast of Landman, our next epic series from Taylor Sheridan.”
When Can I Watch Landman?
The series will hit Paramount+ on November 17. Landman will run alongside the return of Yellowstone season 5, marking a significant return to the small screen for Sheridan. At the same time, he’s working on the Yellowstone spin-off The Madison, the second season of Special Ops: Lioness, 1923, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown. For now, though, it’s off to West Texas.
