Taylor Swift’s Absence From Travis Kelce’s Football Games Had Nothing To Do with Relationship Rumors
Taylor Swift missed the last two of Travis Kelce’s football games, and some fans are concerned about their relationship. The 34-year-old singer has been a staple at the Kansas City Chiefs games ever since the two went public with their romance a year ago. However, no one should be worried that the dynamic duo is on the outs — there are valid reasons why Swift couldn’t cheer Kelce on recently.
Swift has been enjoying a solid break from her Eras Tour, but it’s about to kick back into high gear beginning Oct. 18 in Miami. That return to the stage also means a return to the rehearsal studio with her dancers and musicians, so the show is sharp and ready for Swifties, according to Page Six. In addition to her busy schedule, Swift also has “security concerns” to think about that are more difficult to navigate outside of Arrowhead Stadium.

“She has worked with Arrowhead so many times, that they feel at ease and comfortable. Going to all kinds of different stadiums, you need to send a team in advance,” an insider told the outlet. Fans can’t forget that Swift had to cancel shows in Vienna, Austria in August after an ISIS terrorist attack was planned. Even though the plot was thwarted, it was a nightmare come true for the “Evermore” singer.
Her 2019 essay for ELLE entitled, “30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30,” highlighted her concerns about concert safety after the attacks in Manchester, England, and Las Vegas. “I was completely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months,” she admitted. “There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe.”
Swift’s absence also gave Kelce a break from the ongoing discourse over his slow start to the season. Sports commentator Todd McShay indirectly blamed the pop star for Kelce’s out-of-shape performances on the football field. “Every show I watch, every pregame show, halftime show, postgame show, weekday show, every broadcast I watch for the last few weeks, it’s like, are we not allowed to say that he’s out of shape? That he’s been partying all offseason? He’s been jet-setting around with the most famous person probably in the entire world,” McShay said on The Ryen Russell Podcast on Sept. 23.
So, Swift’s break from the NFL shouldn’t be viewed as a bad thing. It’s letting her focus on her the next leg of her tour, and it allows Kelce to get back on track with his game.
