They're working late, cause they're both singers.
It was a reunion between two blonde pop stars with bangs on Saturday night after Taylor Swift surprised the audience by welcoming the Short n’ Sweet star Sabrina Carpenter to the Eras Tour stage. While performing night two of three at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Swift made it to her surprise song portion of her tour, where she typically plays an acoustic or piano version of songs not on the setlist.
In the past, this set has included some notable guests including Jack Antonoff and Hayley Williams, but this lucky audience got Carpenter. The former Eras Tour opener was called to stage — literally — via a “phone call” that Swift made on stage, according to fan footage.
“I just want to say that we all love you, we all love you so much,” Swift said during the phone call. “What are you doing? Why aren't you here with us?”
She then asked if Carpenter could “come down to the stadium real quick,” before Carpenter emerged on stage.
Carpenter was welcomed back to the familiar stage where she and Swift launched into a mash-up of her songs, “Please, Please, Please” and “Espresso.” Swift, who was playing guitar, then effortlessly transitioned into Swift's song, “Is It Over Now?”
Carpenter wore a white babydoll dress and sparkly silver high heels. The outfit was right in line with her Short n' Sweet Tour outfits, which have consisted of vintage-inspired, ultra-feminine outfits. She recently told TIME, “Femininity is something that I've always embraced. And if right now that means corsets and garter belts and fuzzy robes or whatever the f*ck, then that's what that means.”
Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter reunited for the first time on the Eras Tour stage since Carpenter was her opener during the South America, Asia, and Australia leg of the global tour. Carpenter even third-wheeled Swift and Travis Kelce for a sweet date at the Sydney Zoo.
