“The thing is that this video seems very sad when you watch it, but it actually was like the most fun video to make,” Swift said during her acceptance speech. “And something that I’ll always remember is that when I would finish a take, and I’d say cut, and we’d be done with that take, I would always just hear someone like cheering from across the studio where we were shooting it, and that, that one person was my boyfriend, Travis.”
She continued, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic. So I want to thank him for for adding that to our shoot, because I’ll always remember that.”
Swift ended her speech by saying, “The fact that this is a fan-voted award and you voted for this, I appreciate it so much. And if you are over 18, please register to vote for something else that’s very important coming up — the 2024 presidential election.”

Swift’s appearance at the MTV VMAs comes a day after she rocked the political world by endorsing Kamala Harris for president of the United States.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote on Instagram. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
She continued. “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
