Taylor Swift Dethrones Beyoncé at 2024 VMAs, Setting New Record for Most Wins
It’s been a wild 24 hours for Taylor Swift. On the heels of her endorsing Kamala Harris for President of the United States, she also cleaned up at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, even surpassing Beyoncé for the most Moon Persons of all time.
Swift entered Wednesday’s VMAs with 23 wins already under her belt, three shy of Beyoncé’s 26. And with 12 new nominations this year — including Artist of the Year, of course — the odds were very much in her favor to at least tie Queen Bey.

But Swift is never one to do anything halfway, so she breezed past the Destiny’s Child frontwoman, by winning seven Moon Persons, setting the new records for all-time VMA wins to 30.
Swift gave multiple acceptance speeches throughout the three-hour broadcast, beginning with Best Collaboration, a moment she used to honor the victims of 9/11: “Waking up this morning in New York on September 11, I’ve just been thinking about what happened 23 years ago, everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost,” she said. “That is the most important thing about today, and everything that happens tonight falls behind that.”
And in her final speech of the night, she celebrated her Video of the Year victory by giving a special shout-out to boyfriend Travis Kelce. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic, so I want to thank him.” She also stressed the importance of 18+ fans to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
