Taylor Swift didn't go to Karlie Kloss's wedding, but — for the last time — they're still friends
It’s true — Taylor Swift missed Karlie Kloss’s very intimate wedding to Joshua Kushner on Thursday in upstate New York. However, there’s a perfectly good explanation why — and, for hopefully the last time, they’re still good friends.
No sooner had Kloss shared the first photo from her beautiful wedding, which was attended by approximately 80 guests, than attention turned from the couple’s happy news to whether Swift, Kloss’s longtime pal, was there. And while Swift is super at a lot of things — filling arenas, inspiring people to register to vote — she’s not good at being in two places at the same time. On Thursday — the day of the wedding — Swift was in Australia, a destination that can take nearly one full day to reach from the East Coast, ahead of her Reputation tour kicking off there.

Soon after Kloss’s photo was posted — a photo that Swift gave a “heart” to — Swift shared an image of herself Down Under after a flight that took “131,313 hours,” she joked. (13!) By Friday morning in the U.S., she had already performed her Friday-night show; Australia is a day ahead of the United States, due to the time difference.
And Swift’s appearance in Australia wasn’t some last-minute thing. Her tour dates were announced last November. Kushner proposed to Kloss in June. So the wedding wasn’t even planned until recently, and it’s likely that Swift was invited but just couldn’t, ya know, change her international tour schedule.
Despite all the gossip and speculation, it’s also likely that Kaylor have been fine all along. In addition to Swift quickly giving the wedding photo some love, the longtime pals were hanging out at Swift’s Nashville concert in August.
And just last week, Kloss told Vogue during her “73 Questions” interview, “Taylor and I are really good friends.” You’d think that would put an end to the faux feud pitting famous female against famous female, but apparently it didn’t.
Swift, clearly over the drama, hasn’t addressed it on her social media (beyond the like) and instead has turned her attention to something she cares more about: voting. On Friday afternoon, the singer, who recently got political for the first time urging people to vote Democratic in Tennessee on Nov. 6, filled her Instagram story with photos of young women and men who had voted early — many of whom were voting for the first time.
As for Kloss, hopefully she’s oblivious to chatter and is just in a state of newlywed bliss.
