Taylor Swift Donates $1 Million to Tennessee Tornado Relief Fund
Pop star Taylor Swift is lending a hand to the people of Tennessee after tornadoes hit Middle Tennessee on Saturday, 9th December, leaving at least six people dead and dozens hurt. As reported by CNN, Swift has stepped up and donated $1 million to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a group working to assist those affected by the disaster.
Hal Cato, the CEO of the community foundation, commented on Swift’s generous donation. “The Swifts found their original Tennessee home in Hendersonville and Sumner County and remain deeply committed to its continued well-being,” he said. “Taylor’s incredibly generous gift sends a message to her hometown — and the communities around it — that she has their backs during the long road to recovery following this devastating event.”
Taylor Swift also donated $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund in 2020
Swift, who went to Hendersonville High School in Sumner County, an area hit hard by the storms, has a history of helping her hometown during tough times. In March 2020, when tornadoes caused devastation in Nashville and Middle Tennessee, Swift donated $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.
“Nashville is my home,” Swift said during the previous disaster. “And the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me.”
