Taylor Swift Fans Are Convinced She Just Dropped a Major Easter Egg While Out With Gigi Hadid
Taylor Swift has long been the queen of cryptic messages, almost since the day her career started, weaving Easter eggs into her music, videos, and yes, even her wardrobe choices. On Saturday, Swift’s dinner date with longtime friend and supermodel Gigi Hadid sparked a fresh wave of speculation, thanks to a couple seemingly innocuous fashion choices.
On September 21, Swift was spotted in New York City, stepping out in a chic ensemble that included a black cropped sweater, a plaid skirt by Ramy Brook, and attention-grabbing snakeskin boots. Those were the first hint for Swifties, as even those less familiar with Swift’s lore might recall the heavy snake symbolism she used during her “Reputation” era in 2017.

Her hair was styled in soft curls — another allusion to the 2017 album’s overall aesthetic, as Swift commonly wore her hair in a similar way in music videos for the album, including “Look What You Made Me Do.”
But the detail that sent fans over the edge was her delicate collection of necklaces, one in particular that really sounded off the alarms for Swifties: a pendant resembling the number 12. While some where convinced it was just an upside-down ‘TS,’ others note that ‘TS12’ is what fans refer to her yet-to-be-released twelfth album, which some fans are hoping is Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
Swift’s collaborator Jack Antonoff’s social media also suggests something is in the works. The “1989” producer shared behind-the-scenes photos from New York City’s Electric Lady Studios, dated December 21, 2023. The seventh slide features Taylor in the left bottom corner with her arm over her face, smiling. The timing, coupled with Swift’s ongoing work on her re-recorded albums, have all but confirmed the theory to fans.
The fact that she wore this outfit while out with Hadid, who, for those who don’t recall, starred in Swift’s “Bad Blood” video, also caught fans’ attention. While that particular single is off of 1989, the single’s themes of conflict and betrayal resonate with the darker, more confrontational tone of Reputation. (You can see the photos here on Page Six.)
Swift has a history of using her fashion choices for subtle storytelling. Her 2024 VMAs outfit — a yellow plaid look reminiscent of her “Reputation” era — and her Eras Tour T-shirt, emblazoned with “This Is Not Taylor’s Version,” are prime examples. These choices often serve as callbacks to previous eras or teasers for new projects, which fans clock almost as soon as the Easter egg is shared.
Fan videos dissecting the look playfully ask, “are we clowning again,” acknowledging that their eagerness to decode Swift’s lore could just be them digging a little too deep. But this time, it seems like the Swifties are pretty on point.
As fans continue to speculate and “clown” with joy, one thing is certain: Swift’s world is as packed with Easter eggs as ever, and her fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
