Vergara has been nominated for an Emmy in the limited series lead actress category for her role as a Colombian drug lord in Griselda on Netflix.

The actress opened up to Variety about her "personal connection" to the script: She was 24 years old when her older brother, Rafael, was murdered by a Colombian cartel in a botched kidnapping attempt in 1996.
