Taylor Swift Might Be Trying To Help Travis Kelce on the Football Field With This Subtle Move
Travis Kelce didn’t start his football season with the Kansas City Chiefs with a bang, and now it seems that Taylor Swift is taking a backseat in the stands. It’s a remarkable difference from last season when the 34-year-old pop star was seen every chance she got in the Arrowhead Stadium suites.
There might be a good reason for her absence after she’s notably missed two games in a row. Swift seems to be exiting from the chat that she’s a distraction from Kelce’s successful athletic career. The discourse began on Monday, Sept. 24 when sports commentator Todd McShay gave a misogynistic view of why the tight end had a slow start to the season.

“Every show I watch, every pregame show, halftime show, postgame show, weekday show, every broadcast I watch for the last few weeks, it’s like, are we not allowed to say that he’s out of shape? That he’s been partying all offseason? He’s been jet-setting around with the most famous person probably in the entire world,” he said on The Ryen Russell Podcast. The broadcaster didn’t mention Swift by name, but fans understood exactly where he was going with his argument.
“I want you to take a picture from preseason 2022 and then take a picture preseason 2024, they’re barely the same human being,” McShay added. “Here’s the thing, bottom line with Kelce: The coverage and the respect he gets is the same, the athlete is not.” Swift might not want to be a part of McShay’s discussion, so it’s easier to stay away from the game and let her boyfriend’s rebuttal take place on the football field.
Still, Kelce has Swift’s support, and he has the support of the Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers Rashee Rice, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Mecole Hardman, who all took a stand by wearing custom T-shirts with images of their teammate. Per CBS Sports reporter Tracy Wolfson on X, “Rice got them for all the WRs to honor their leader and a guy who has mentored all of them, especially Rice.” So, while the armchair critics want to blame Kelce’s romance with Swift, it’s clear that the team has the couple’s back. It’s time to just shake it off and let Kelce do his job.
