Taylor Swift’s Reaction to Katy Perry at the MTV VMAs Shows Their Feud Is Long Over
While so many artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan got to shine at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 11, Katy Perry undoubtedly blew the house down during her performance. Before accepting the night’s biggest award, the Video Vanguard Award, Perry sang some of her biggest hits like “Teenage Dream,” “I Kissed a Girl,” “California Gurls” and “E.T.”
In the audience, Perry’s former pop nemesis Taylor Swift celebrated, danced and sang to her songs in the middle of cheering fans. In videos now going viral on social media, Swift is seen singing word-for-word of Perry songs.

Then, when Perry’s performance came to an end, Swift got off her seat and joined the rest of the UBS Arena in giving her a standing ovation. And, when she started her speech, Swift continued to stand and applaud throughout.
“This is an iconic moment,” wrote one fan on X. “We love a supportive queen,” wrote another.
In one moment of Perry’s speech, she even got quite a reaction from Swift. “[I’d like to thank] the LGBTQ community who I recognize I would not be here without and who showed me you can be both kind and c—,” Perry said in her speech.
From one angle, Swift’s jaw dropped when she heard Perry’s daring line. From another angle, she’s seen looking back at her longtime producer Jack Antanoff who nodded and pointed right back at her. Looks like Perry and Swift have more in common with one another than they might’ve thought!
As a reminder, the two pop singers already indicated that the longtime feud between them, which started as early as 2015, was water under the bridge in February when Perry attended the Eras Tour. “got to see an old friend shine tonight ???,” Perry wrote on Instagram alongside a selfie of them.
Looks like Swift got her chance to do the same thing yesterday!
