Following her Video of the Year win at MTV’s 2024 Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift headed to the ceremony’s after party at Electric Lady Studios. For her look, fans felt that she left them an Easter egg, matching a roomy bomber jacket, bustier top, and skirt, with second-skin, black platform boots.
Swift is often known for sending fans messages through her wardrobe. Various looks signal coming eras and projects and are thus dissected intently by Swifties. For the after party, the global star wore a jacket, bustier top and skirt that seem like a custom version of look 15 from Monse’s fall 2024 collection.
Previously during the night, at the VMAs she wore a custom look based on look 18 from the same show. But fans have been zeroing in on the landscape depicted in the pieces which show an alien spaceship in the sky. They have taken it as an indication that the musician will release her “Down Bad” song as the next single.
With the Monse look, Swift opted to stick with her current infatuation: boots. After having worn a pair of black leather thigh-high boots from Stuart Weitzman on the VMA black carpet, for the afterparty she changed into Vivienne Westwood’s Grace boot.
$1,270
The Grace boot features a thick platform of almost two inches. This helps to support a sculpted block heel of almost six inches. The knee high shoe is from Vivienne Westwood’s fall 2023 collection, designed by Andreas Kronthaler. It is named for Grace Jones and features a half zip.
Westwood sells the Grace boot currently for $1,270.
Like Swift’s other recent books, the leg of the boot is skin-tight. This falls in line with the second-skin boot trend seen on runways in both Paris and Milan for the fall 2024 season. The look was styled by Swift’s long time collaborator Joseph Cassell Falconer.
