Taylor Swift wins Top Artist at Billboard Music Awards and ties Drake’s record

As expected, Taylor Swift won top honors at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, which were presented in a new format that blended performances with an online presentation of winners and recorded acceptance speeches. She claimed Top Artist for the third time in her career, tying Drake for the most honors in that category. But she didn’t collect the most hardware on Sunday night? In addition to Top Artist, Swift claimed Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist, Top Country Female Artist and Top Selling Song (“Anti-Hero”). That brought her total for the night to 10 awards and the total for her career so far to 39. That wasn’t enough to break Drake’s record, but only because Drake won five more trophies himself tonight, also bringing his total to 39. They’re now tied for the most victories ever.
