Taylor Swift's Influence on the NFL Has Created a Financial Windfall in the Last 4 Months
Travis Kelce isn’t 100% sure that his girlfriend, Taylor Swift will be at Sunday’s Super Bowl game, but there is one organization that is praying she makes after her Eras Tour concert in Japan. The NFL has seen some incredible financial gains, thanks to the influence of the 34-year-old pop star.
Just by showing up at a game and making a quick cameo on-camera, Swift has dramatically changed the equivalent brand value of the Kansas City Chiefs from $166 million to $331.5 million as of Jan. 22, according to Apex Marketing Group president, Eric Smallwood on Fox Business. It’s no coincidence that the most-watched AFC Championship in the history of the NFL happened just two weeks ago — yep, Swift was there and on the field after the game.

NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell has no problem whatsoever with Kelce’s romance with Swift, he called them “wonderful young people” who “seem very happy.” He wants them to remain in their love bubble because she’s bringing a new generation of young female football fans to the sport. “Obviously, it creates a buzz, it creates another group of young fans, particularly young women, who are interested in seeing why she is going to this game, why is she interested in this game,” Goodell noted at a Feb. 5 Super Bowl press conference. “Besides Travis, she is a football fan and I think that’s great for us.”
It’s not just the Kansas City team that’s enjoying the financial windfall, Kristin Juszczyk, the wife of San Francisco 49ers star Kyle Juszczyk, learned how valuable it is to have Swift wear one of her designs. The custom puffer jacket that the “Shake It Off” singer sported at the Jan. 13 game against the Miami Dolphins landed Kristin an NFL licensing deal, per Sportico, and countless new Instagram followers.
Swift knows that “a few dads, Brads and Chads” don’t love her presence at the games, but they have to understand that she’s “just there to support Travis.” She explained to TIME, “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
No matter where Swift is in the stadium on Super Bowl Sunday, those cameras are going to find her because her high-wattage smile is worth a lot of money to the NFL.
