Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers have announced they will reissue their debut album I Love You as a deluxe edition, dubbed I Love You Too, on Friday September 20th. It will be released via Domestic La La in Australia and New Zealand and New York-based indie label Mom + Pop in the rest of the world – marking their official signing to the label.

Included in I Love You Too are three new tracks: ‘Please Me’, ‘we thought it would be a good time but it was a bad time’ and a new single entitled ‘Dull’. The lattermost cut features Canadian duo Softcult, marking the first time the two acts have collaborated. In a press statement, lead vocalist Anna Ryan thematically compared the single to I Love You‘s Hottest 100-placing opener ‘I Used To Be Fun’.

“We had been talking about how it feels to not have that motivation like we used to, to go out and party, and that it’s often harder to sit with yourself and be alone with your thoughts rather than just distracting yourself with thing after thing,” they said. “It’s good to learn to just sit with stuff and take it easy.” Ryan also noted that the band were “fans of Softcult from afar for a long time”, and were “stoked” that the band agreed to record parts for the song.

I Love You was originally released in October 2023. Along with ‘I Used To Be Fun’, the album was also flanked by singles such as ‘Never Saw It Coming’ (featuring drummer Neve van Boxsel on lead vocals), ‘Salt’ (featuring The Grogans) and ‘Lights Out’.

Since the album’s release, the band have released two triple j-affiliated singles: ‘The Song I Wrote When I Was 11’, with the station’s breakfast host Concetta Caristo, and their cover of Billie Eilish‘s ‘Happier Than Ever’ which was recorded for Like a Version.

Following the recent conclusion of their co-headlining regional tour with The Grogans, Teen Jesus will spend the rest of 2024 on what remains of the festival circuit – including scheduled appearances at this year’s Darwin Festival, Big Pineapple Festival and NYE On The Hill.
