'Teen Mom' star Amber Portwood gives birth to a baby boy
Rock-a-bye, sweet baby James!
Teen Mom‘s Amber Portwood has expanded her family, giving birth to her first child with boyfriend Andrew Glennon, a boy named James. The new addition arrived on Tuesday at 1:39 a.m. Baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
This is the second child for the 27-year-old MTV star, who shared the highs and lows of being a teen mom after having Leah, now 9, with ex Gary Shirley. She told Us Weekly, which had the exclusive first photo of mother and baby, that she hopes that she and Andrew can “blend together” with Gary and his wife, Kristina, “and stop the back-and-forth. I have a really calm, chill life and I’m happy for the first time, genuinely.”

Portwood has also been candid about going through pregnancy as a woman with borderline personality and bipolar disorder. She told People magazine that while she initially went off medication, thinking that was best for the baby, she later discovered that she needed it and consulted with her doctor to find something safe.
“If I do not have medication, I will not be normal,” she told the magazine. “I thought I was able to control it myself, so I just wanted to try it out and see if I could. I realized — I think I was about seven months pregnant — that I needed something for depression. … We were really against taking any medication during the pregnancy, but the doctor told me about one certain prescription that was okay for pregnancy and there were no effects on the baby or anything, so I ended up taking an antidepressant.” That left her “a lot happier” and more energetic. “Everything is just kind of looking up,” she said.
Reality TV brought together Amber and her cinematographer beau. They started dating last summer after meeting on the set of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition. They confirmed the pregnancy in November.
