Tems Self-Directs Her Karaoke Party in ‘Love Me JeJe’ Video
Tems is her own director and go-to karaoke artist in the music video for her latest single, “Love Me Jeje.” The record, which interpolates Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 Nigerian hit of the same name, is set to appear on the musician’s highly-anticipated debut album Born in the Wild.
Sodimu appears in the “Love Me Jeje” visual, which pays homage to Tems’ hometown of Lagos, Nigeria. The clip opens with the musician settling in at a karaoke spot where the song is loaded onto the television set. As a director, she highlights the architecture and culture of Lagos, capturing sweaty bodies dancing through the night in tandem with families sharing laughs while braiding hair and riding through the street.

“If not you, then I don’t wanna know, I don’t want no story/Day and night, it’s unconditional, got mе living softly/Love me JeJe, love me tender,” Tems sings on the record, using the Nigerian word for “softly” or “gentle.” The single was produced by Spax and Guiltybeatz with lyrics from the singer.
Born in the Wild is set to arrive this month, but Tems has not yet shared an official release date or tracklist. “Love Me Jeje” functions as the album’s lead single, though she has also shared the one-off singles “Me & U” and “Not An Angel.”
Tems initially introduced the album with a short trailer, which also zeros in on her connection to Lagos. “It’s all over the news, all over the news, I know this/Under the sun, struggling to find my focus/When I was young, younger then/I was always running away,” she sings in the clip, seemingly teasing the album’s title track.
The musician released her first EP, For Broken Ears, in 2020 and followed up with If Orange Was a Place in 2021.
