Teyana Taylor Was on Tour Through First Trimester of Pregnancy: 'I Was Always Moving'

Teyana Taylor is queen of the post-baby body.

The 25-year-old singer and dancer has been the talk of the town since strutting her stuff in Kanye West‘s Flashdance-esque music video for “Fade” — which the rapper premiered at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Her chiseled abs and toned arms and legs have had many wondering just how she got so fit after giving birth just eight months ago. But the star tells PEOPLE that pregnancy never stopped her from being active.

“Before I announced that I was pregnant, I was on tour with Chris [Brown],” she says, referring to the singer’s One Hell of a Nite tour.

“I had toured until I was about four months. I was half way through my pregnancy and I was still dancing — I think that’s what it was.”

She adds that just three weeks after welcoming her daughter Iman “Junie” Tayla with her husband, Iman Shumpert, she had shot a music video and performed at a concert.

“I was always moving around,” Taylor tells PEOPLE. “There was never really a moment where I was just sitting still.”

And the singer hasn’t slowed down one bit since welcoming her first child — and little Junie comes along for the ride. Taylor says being a mother to the little girl is “amazing.”

“It’s everything that I could ask for and more,” she says. “[Motherhood] changes you as a woman. You see things differently. A different kind of love. I love that girl so much.”

She adds: “She’s made me such a better woman. She made me a better wife. She made me a better me and I love her for that. She taught me things that I would probably be too stubborn to learn on my own.”
