The Kardashians get slammed for on-camera food fight: 'Wasting food for fun when there are thousands of hungry families'
The Kardashians are swimming in cash, but a wasteful display with food has the family being called out.
In a preview of Sunday’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians shared on Khloé’s Instagram, the first family of reality TV stages a food fight in one of their multimillion-dollar homes. And they were obviously very well prepared for it — all dressed down in athletic wear and it the whole thing took place outside.
During the infantile display, Kim throws what looks like a salad at Khloé. Khloé launches some food at Kourtney, who protects herself with a plate. Kourtney and Kris all toss things too while feigning shock that they would find themselves stooping to that level.
It ended with Kim sneaking up behind Kris with what looks like a pitcher of iced tea — the apparent grand finale of grossness.
Even worse, Khloé’s confessional musings play during the food fight.
“Am I bothered by this food fight right now?” she asks ... no one. “Who the f*** wouldn’t be bothered by this? This is, in any normal person’s world, is bizarre disturbing and unacceptable.”
Though Khloé’s bother is seemingly not because of the exorbitant food waste. It’s because of the mess and juvenile display.
“This is, in any normal person’s world, is bizarre, disturbing and unacceptable,” she said not once mentioning food waste, starvation or hunger.
She also seemingly blamed her mom for the drama, wagging a finger at the camera and saying, “You messed with the wrong b****, Kris Jenner.”
During the melee, Khloé seemingly scolds the rest of the group. “If anyone’s comfortable like this, i’m gonna question them. This is no way to live.” To which Kris replies, “No, this is no way to live, but if you can laugh at this and breathe then I think you’re doing A-OK.”
While the Kardashians must think the food fight will be a ratings driver — this is the promo they are sharing with fans to get them to tune in, after all — their fans are already calling them out in the posts’ comments. Specifically, there are people around the world who aren’t reality TV millionaires who, you know, are starving.
“A lot of people have no food and you are just wasting it,” one person commented.
“Guys food isn’t something you throw at people just to laugh,” posted another.
“Meanwhile people starve.... but ok,” was another reaction.
Some more responses from different commenters:
“Shame on all of you, people would give their right arm for that food!! Disgusting.”
“That’s very insensitive!! There’s ppl that can barely afford to have breakfast.”
“How many people are dying of starvation around the world??”
“You all need to come to MEXICO and see how children starving to [death].”
“Makes me cringe to think of all the food that was wasted.”
“Wasting food for fun when there are thousands of hungry families. #lifeoftherich.”
“Bet ya didn’t even pick nothing up.”
In 2017, Kris closed a deal with E! for five more seasons of the show — through 2019 — for $150 million. That payday was up $50 million from the contract they signed in 2015.
Of course, the reality show has brought the family many more lucrative ventures outside of the show. Kylie, who wisely skipped the food fight, is the family’s first billionaire thanks to her cosmetics biz. Earlier this year, Forbes estimated Kim is $370 million from her KKW Beauty line, endorsements and other business ventures. The rest of the family members are rich too — though to a lesser degree —making it not a real loss to any of them.
