‘The Mick’ Stars Gush About Kaitlin Olson’s Dark, Weird & Generous Comedic Style
We’ve seen Kaitlin Olson break boundaries with the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gang, but now Fox has given her the opportunity to shine bright in her own series, The Mick. And it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that she’s pushing envelopes (and getting away with it) on network TV.
At the Television Critics Association conference in Pasadena, SuperFan had a chance to sit down with Olson’s co-stars, Sofia Black-D’Elia and Carla Jimenez, and they were quick to point out just how much she brings to this comedy; in describing the 5 Things You Need To Know About The Mick, Sofia Black-D’Elia immediately name-checks Olson.
Both actresses admit that they were somewhat intimidated by Olson, because her improvisational skills are honed to perfection, but Jimenez says that “once she gets going, you just gotta keep up!” Black-D’Elia, who played a pivotal role in HBO’s The Night Of, is a newcomer to comedy, so she was “nervous” at first, but there was an instant connection with Olson that made her feel “safe and comfortable to fail.”
The Mick airs Tuesdays at 8:30 on Fox. Watch clips and full episodes of The Mick on Yahoo View.
