The ‘Rush Hour’ Premiere Was a Rough Hour Premiere
If a cast member from Rush Hour owes you money, you may want to collect that sooner rather than later. The show, based on the super-successful movie franchise, is about an edgy Los Angeles detective named James Carter who teams up with a Chinese detective named Lee. And while the movies were greeted with a warm reception, this pilot episode got a chilly response from critics and Twitter.
If you like a lot of action, the pilot episode was pretty entertaining, with an incredible amount of gunfire and hand-to-hand combat, most of which was executed at a very high level.
But if you like well-timed comedic deliveries and affable characters, you may want to wait until this series has a chance to smooth out the rough spots. As of right now, Justin Hires’s and Jon Foo’s characters are a far cry from the ones that Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan created.
Rush Hour airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
