'The Talk' Responds to Stage Crasher Incident
The People’s Choice Awards saw a notable moment Wednesday evening when a man crashed the stage while the ladies of The Talk were accepting an award (video below).
On their show Thursday, hosts Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, Aisha Tyler, and Sheryl Underwood weighed in on it for a scant 14 minutes. Osbourne said this was a case of a man picking on a group of women. “He picked us because he thought we were a slam dunk,” Osbourne claimed. “We were going to stand there, we were going to let this idiot have his time in the spotlight, and it’s like, no. Why didn’t you do that when it was one of the guys up there?”
That “idiot” was Zacari Nicasio. He told the website Pigeons & Planes he decided to go up because “all the stuff that’s going on in the world today. I’m a big inspiration to myself, and people are not taking me seriously. People are playing with me as an artist. I’m trying to let people know: Invest in me.”
Tyler is not a fan. “If you’re going to go up and try to steal the spotlight on national, international live TV, practice your speech in the bathroom,” she quipped. “Don’t come up and be like, ‘I’m going to give a shout-out to Pookie, and I like cheese sandwiches.’ C’mon!”
Chen was mostly just confused, confessing, “I just thought, ‘Oh, great, another new young, hot star I’ve got to learn. Who is this guy?’ I thought it was someone.” Underwood, well, she gave a nuanced, well-thought-out response. “I wanted to let you know that we ain’t no suckers,” she proclaimed. “You come up against us, you going to get dealt with. Like they say in the streets.”
