The Worst Part About Drew Barrymore’s Concussion Was Her Terrible EMT

Drew Barrymore got a little heated on Late Night With Seth Meyers when she recalled an ambulance trip that could have used a little more sensitivity.

The actress currently stars on Santa Clarita Diet, where she plays Sheila, a woman who slowly transforms into a flesh-eating zombie. Barrymore told Seth that she had a scary accident while filming a scene where she hungrily attacks someone. She said, “I eagerly jumped on the guy’s back as I’m supposed to do in the scene, but it was a rehearsal and he wasn’t prepared for it, so he leaned up and I took a six-foot fall onto the concrete.”

An ambulance was called to set, although Barrymore wasn’t as concerned with her own health as the welfare of her kids, 4-year-old Olive and 2-year-old Frankie. She said, “I couldn’t stop crying, because I’d never been hurt since I’ve been a mom. And all you keep thinking is like, ‘I can’t be un-OK for my children.”

As if things couldn’t get any worse, Barrymore then told Seth about her ambulance ride from hell, saying, “And then I got this EMT next to me … who kept saying, ‘Stop crying! Why are you crying?’ Because I’m afraid I’m going to be like dead or paralyzed, and I have two kids at home. Do you know nothing about women?”
