THEATER AND SHOWS: 'Pretty Woman' at the Bushnell
Apr. 28—The national tour of 'Pretty Woman: The Musical," is on stage at the Bushnell through Sunday.
Based on the 1990 film, one of Hollywood's most beloved romantic stories of all time, "Pretty Woman" stars Tony Award-nominee Adam Pascal as Edward Lewis and rising star Olivia Valli as the charming Vivian Ward.
The show features an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance ("Summer of '69", "Heaven"), and a book by the movie's director Garry Marshall, and screenwriter, J. F. Lawton.
Also featured in the musical is Roy Orbison and Bill Dee's international smash hit song "Oh, Pretty Woman," released in 1964 and used on the soundtrack of the film.

'Lost in Yonkers'
Hartford Stage, 50 Church St., presents "Lost in Yonkers" through Sunday.
The play stars Academy Award-nominee Marsha Mason, who is also the production's co-director.
About the play: After the death of their mother, two young brothers are sent to stay with their formidable grandmother for the longest 10 months of their lives. Grandmother Kurnitz is a one-woman German front—a refugee and a widow who has steeled her heart against the world. Her coldness and intolerance have crippled her own children. The boys must contend with their strong-willed grandmother, their aunt and her secret romance, and their uncle, a small-time hoodlum, in this strange new world called Yonkers.

Playhouse on Park
The Amazing Adventures of Dr. Wonderful and Her Dog!" is on stage at Playhouse on through Sunday.
The production is a part of Playhouse on Park's Theatre for Young Audiences series.
Book and lyrics are by Lauren Gunderson, with music by Bree Lowdermilk.
There will be a sensory-friendly performance on Saturday at 10 a.m. sponsored by the Miracle League of Connecticut.
The play is a mystery science musical for young audiences. Fly through the solar system with Dr. Wonderful and her amazing adventure team of Newton (the dog), Ben (the human), and Mom.

—Playhouse on Park will hold a comedy night Saturday, at 8 p.m. with Mark Scalia and Carolyn Plummer co-headlining the show.
Scalia has been a comedy favorite with audiences for more than 30 years. His material is funny, insightful, and personable, and he is able to craft his sets to include all ages.
Plummer has worked all over New England and beyond, from small towns to large cities. She makes the average seem hilarious and larger than life.
The event is BYOB and doors open 30 minutes prior to the show.

ESCU production
The Theatre Program at Eastern Connecticut State University will present a live performance of dance, film, and poetry in its final main stage production of the spring semester today through Sunday in the Proscenium Theatre in the Fine Arts Instructional Center, 83 Windham St. in Willimantic.
"The Greenwood Project: Against Erasure" is a multi-disciplinary collaboration directed by Professor Alycia Bright Holland, who teaches dance and choreography, and Professor Brian Day, who teaches filmmaking.
Set in the north Tulsa, Oklahoma, neighborhood of Greenwood, the production highlights achievements of African Americans between 1907-21. The show will also commemorate the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, and the loss of life and cultural capital that resulted from the tragic event.

The Opera House Players will stage "Next to Normal," which will incorporate signing and American Sign Language, on May 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22 in the Enfield Annex, 124 North Maple St., Enfield.
Tickets are $23 for adults, $19 for youths younger than 12, older than 60, and students; discounts for groups of 10 or more.
Priority seating will be given to deaf/hard-of-hearing patrons and their friends and family.
