Third Ward's Riverfront Pizzeria has closed after 20 years, with a new restaurant planned for the space
The Third Ward's Riverfront Pizzeria has closed after 20 years of service, with Valentine's Day being its last day of operation.
"What an exciting adventure it has been watching the Third Ward turn into an amazing piece of history and vibrant food culture," a statement on its website said. "In fitting love, our last day open will be February 14, Valentine's Day. Thank you for letting us serve you Milwaukee."
A new restaurant is planned in its space at 509 E. Erie St., according to a liquor license application.
It is named SeaFire Brasserie and comes from Shannon Rowell and Ramses Alvarez, who also own Brew'd Burger Shop and Dia Bom. The latter is planning to open in the Lincoln Warehouse at 2018 S. 1st St. after moving out of Crossroads Collective food hall in September.
The application said that the indoor floor plan would remain the same and the restaurant would still have outdoor dining. The application also said the restaurant would host live music.
Riverfront Pizzeria owner Arturo Napoles was not immediately available for comment, nor were new owners Rowell and Alvarez.
