Thomas Rhett Putting His Bare Feet on Plane Headrest Is Giving Fans the Ick: 'Put Your Dogs Away'
The country star's latest instagram has followers reprimanding him for poor plane etiquette — and a travel expert agrees
Thomas Rhett is causing quite a stir after violating a basic principle of airplane etiquette.
The country star, 34, shared a series of photos on Instagram Thursday, Sept. 12 showing him goofing around while traveling to Edmonton, Canada on what appeared to be a private plane.
In each slide, Thomas Rhett is seen with his bare feet out as he tries to get comfortable in his seat. The first shot shows the musician leaning back as he rests his feet on the headrest of the seat in front of him. He has a big smile on his face as food and drinks can be seen on the tray table below.
Thomas Rhett then begins to turn his body around and face backwards. His head hangs off the edge of the seat as he stretches his legs and rests his feeet on the wall behind him. Switching it up again, the musician places his feet above the windows of the aircraft and leans his back against the armrest.
While the “Craving You” singer appears to be taking full advantage of the private plane's many comforts, his followers were quick to tell him to cover his bare feet.
“Put ur dogs away,” one user wrote, followed by another adding, “I know this is a pj, but still… feet on the seat ???♀?.”
Another commented, “This was NOT what you meant when you said baby’s barefoot on the dance floor,” in reference to Thomas Rhett’s song “Barefoot.” They added, “BRO PUT THE DAWGS AWAY”
Other commenters reflected on their personal experiences with similar passengers: “You remind me of a lady that sat behind me on my flight last week. She settled with a foot on each of my armrests.”
“Actual footage of my 12 year daughter in any kind of seat,” another wrote.

In response to the feedback, Thomas Rhett joked that he didn’t know what “dawgs” meant and that he was simply considering a possible career change.
“Y’all I had no clue what 'dawgs' were. So I asked my 25 year old brother in law… feet.. got it?? I’m just auditioning for my foot modeling career,” he wrote.

PEOPLE previously spoke to travel expert and advisor Nicole Campoy Jackson of Fora Travel all about the divisive topic of how feet should be treated on planes, and she agrees with Thomas Rhett's followers that bare feet must be covered at all times.
“I'm a firm believer in covered feet on a flight,” Jackson says. “If that's shoes, great. If that's socks, great. But no one should have bare feet on a plane. If you've worn sandals to the airport, bring a pair of socks with you for the flight.”
