Three Generations of Glamour: Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith, and Dakota Johnson Open Up About a Hollywood Dynasty

Three generations of Hollywood stardom came together in one photo when Tippi Hedren posed with her actress daughter Melanie Griffith and granddaughter Dakota Johnson.

The trio sat down with Vanity Fair to discuss their respective careers and be photographed for their first formal portrait together in celebration of Hedren’s upcoming memoir Tippi, which chronicles her nearly 55 years in show business.

All three women shine in long gowns that vary in shades of pink to complement one another.

“The three generations just made me think about Mom, born in 1930, and me, in the ’50s, and Dakota, in the ’80s,” Griffith, 59, told the magazine. “The progression of life is really beautiful.”

And while the women maintain a close relationship, they don’t turn to each other to swap stories about work or offer acting advice.

“We never even talk about it,” said Hedren. “Isn’t that interesting?”

But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll never see them appear on screen together. The women say they are open to the idea of working together if the right opportunity were to come along.

“We could all be the whole life of a woman,” Griffith suggested.

“That’s an interesting idea,” Johnson, 27, replied.

“You just helped us come up with a great theme!” Griffith concluded.
