Tia Mowry Had a Unique Way of Repurposing Her Wedding Ring After Her Divorce
Tia Mowry put her wedding ring to good use after her split from ex-husband Cory Hardrict, as she revealed in the latest episode of her reality show, My Next Act.
Mowry revealed plans to have her band made into jewelry for her two children, 13-year-old son Cree and 6-year-old daughter Cairo, to give the ring a second life after her 2022 divorce. “I haven’t worn it for almost two years now,” she says in the second episode of the We TV. “It just doesn’t feel right to sell it but what I’m wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids.”

Mowry, who married Hardrict in 2008, tearfully explained that the decision to repurpose the ring brought up mixed emotions about her ex. “It’s sad because this is a symbol of a marriage and it’s no longer,” she tells the camera. “It’s hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding band.”
“I am learning that at the end of the day, I need to make this decision for me,” she adds. “And I think because it’s going to the kids, he’ll be ok.”
Mowry takes the band to a Los Angeles jewelry-maker who agrees to repurpose it in a dog tag necklace for her son and a bracelet for her daughter.
“I just think it is so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children,” Mowry says. “It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste.”
Mowry filed for divorce from Hardrict in October 2022. In the first episode of Hardrict’s reality show she revealed that she came to the decision after getting tired of putting on a front in public.
“I got tired of not being authentic and living in my truth,” Mowry said. “I got tired of showing up at events and people thinking that everything was perfect when it wasn’t. I would go home and feel alone.”
