Despite going through a divorce in 2022, Tia Mowry has been showing that there’s so much life to live outside of a marriage.

Mowry recently embarked on a reality TV journey with her own show, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, where she’s open about her life post-marriage to Cory Hardrict. In an Oct. 11 episode, she showed that she took her wedding rings and repurposed them into something sentimental for their children.

“I haven’t worn it for almost two years now, and it just doesn’t feel right to sell it,” she said in a clip. “But what I am wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids. Pass it down, you know, to my kids, because they have been my biggest gift.”

Visibly getting emotional, the 46-year-old actress explained how her wedding bands had been “sitting in a drawer” since separating from Hardrict. “It was very pretty,” she said while admiring the diamond ring.

“It’s hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding band because he is the one who gave me my wedding ring,” she added. Mowry also admitted that she didn’t ask for Hardrict’s input on repurposing the rings, but felt that he wouldn’t oblige.

To keep the ring in her family some way, she had a jeweler make her son, Cree, a necklace and daughter, Cairo, a bracelet.

“I just think it’s so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children,” she said. “It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste. I did the right thing.”

Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict were married for 14 years before divorcing in October 2022. See a trailer from her new show below.
