‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ officially opens at Walt Disney World
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Friday, June 28 is the day Disney fans around the world have been waiting for. The all-new attraction, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” is officially open to the public at Walt Disney World.
WGNO is getting a sneak peek of “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” the new ride inspired by the New Orleans-themed Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog.” “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” replaces Splash Mountain. The attraction is a water ride and will have a 50-foot drop and will feature all new animatronics.
We’re going down to the bayou to take a dip in the Louisiana swamp with Princess Tiana and all her swamp friends.

“Here are some little details throughout and guests will enjoy. They might not see at first or fifth ride through,” said Dustin Eshenroder with Walt Disney World Imagineering.
Tiana’s planning a Mardi Gras party with her friend Louis the Gator. They’re looking to hire a band of bayou critters, 19 new animatronic figures. The ride has 40 altogether.
“I was lucky enough to visit New Orleans a couple of times to really find out more about the history, the architecture, what bayou is like so all that can translate into to our design and execution of ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,’” said Eshenroder.
The queen of Creole cuisine, the late Leah Chase, is the inspiration for Princess Tiana. The family played a huge role in the making of this new attraction.

“She would love this. The symbolism of making, working hard, achieving what you want to and spreading joy,” said Leah Chase-Kamata, a daughter of Leah Chase.
And spreading New Orleans music everywhere.
“You’ll be surprised, when you go down one, then another and then the biggest surprise is the last one,” said Stella Chase, a daughter of Leah Chase.
That’s where it’s at, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” bringing that special spice.
