Tim Meadows to Star in CBS Comedy ‘DMV’
CBS’ comedy pilot DMV is starting to staff up.
Tim Meadows will star in the single-camera show, which comes from CBS Studios and creator Dana Klein (Friends, CBS’ 9JKL). As the title implies, DMV is set in a department of motor vehicles office and follows the people who work there.

Saturday Night Live and The Goldbergs alum Meadows will play Gregg, a former high school teacher who now works as a DMV examiner. Gregg likes to get through driving tests, and the day, as quickly as possible. Gregg has an uncanny ability to make dead-on observations of those around him, and he is sardonic, defeated and would love nothing more than to retire.
DMV is one of three comedy projects CBS has has in various stages of development. The others are Eternally Yours, a show about a family of vampires from Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman that has opened a development writers room; and Area 51, set at the secretive military installation in Nevada, which is in development from writers Steven Lilien, Bryan Winbrandt and Laura Moran. Like DMV, the other two hail from CBS Studios.
DMV is based on a short story by Katherine Heiny. CBS describes it as “a single-camera workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the DMV. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.”
Klein executive produces with Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Robyn Meisinger.
