Timothée Chalamet Suits Up As Bob Dylan In James Mangold’s Musical Biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’
Paparazzi snaps from the set of James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown have been flooding the web the past week, but the filmmaker has now shared his own behind-the-scenes look from the musical biopic.
In an official snap shared this morning, Timothée Chalamet can be seen fully suited up as Bob Dylan headed toward the Chelsea Hotel and favored hang-out El Quijote restaurant-bar. Chalamet is in the folk singers’ customary suede jacket, boots, and sunglasses.

Mangold’s A Complete Unknown is set up at Searchlight. Pic is set in the influential New York music scene of the early ’60s and follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s (Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts — his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation — culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
Also starring in the pic written by Mangold and Jay Cocks are Edward Norton, Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro. Producers include Range’s Fred Berger, The Picture Company’s Alex Heineman, Veritas Entertainment Group’s Peter Jaysen, Bob Bookman, and Alan Gasmer, Bob Dylan’s longtime representative Jeff Rosen, Chalamet, and Mangold via his Turnpike Films. Michael Bederman, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Andrew Rona are executive producers. Vice President of Production Richard Ruiz is overseeing the project for Searchlight along with Manager of Creative Affairs Cameron Chidsey, reporting to Heads of Production and Development Katie Goodson-Thomas and DanTram Nguyen.
