Tina Knowles Reveals Beyoncé Was Bullied As A Child, But Praised Her For Standing Up For Others
Tina Knowles loves to brag about her children and tell us things that they may never admit themselves.
This time, Mama Tina is opening up about Beyoncé, Solange, and Kelly Rowland’s childhoods and how she raised them to embrace their individuality. After appearing on Vogue’s The Run Through podcast, Knowles revealed that Beyoncé was actually bullied as a child for being “very shy.”
However, the 70-year-old shared, “The day that she stood up for someone, she didn’t stand up for herself, but she stood up for them — I’m getting emotional talking about it. I couldn’t have been more proud of her.”
She later confessed that Solange has “always been an activist” and often will be out “getting petitions signed.” Knowles also considers Rowland to be one of her daughters and said that the Mea Culpa star was always the protector.
“Kelly was always this kid that tried to protect everybody […] I have this memory of her just being this little peacemaker,” she confessed.
The doting grandmother-entrepreneur captioned that post, “Each child is different! But all so special. I believe kids are born with their personalities. My three girls all handled things very differently. Learn their personalities and respect the individuality.”
She concluded the post by adding a message to fellow parents: “Never compare the negatives, always praise the positive differences and pay attention to the things that you can brag on about them. They love it and it encourages positive behavior.”
All three women, now mothers themselves, brag about their own children and motherhood in their own ways. Rowland just unveiled a Lego campaign with her two sons and husband. Solange’s only child gushed about her being one of the world’s “best-dressed” people and how her work ethic inspires him. Meanwhile, Bey’s oldest child is following in her footsteps and is set to star in a new live-action Lion King just one year after co-headlining the RENAISSANCE World Tour.
