After two decades in the NFL, Tom Brady is transitioning into the next chapter of his life off the field as a sports broadcaster. When looking back on the career that gave him so much, the seven-time Super Bowl champ confessed one thing he wishes he'd done differently.

Brady reflected on his years in the NFL in a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast.

"What I would have changed was... You see these young players, I see, like, Patrick [Mahomes] out there, a quarterback, laughing, having fun," he said. "I’m like, 'I used to be like that!' What the hell happened to me? I just got too serious."

During the offseason this year, Brady made his Fox Sports broadcasting debut during the UFL championship and is set to make his official NFL regular-season debut later this summer. With that in mind, Brady is hoping to stop and smell the roses more often.

"You just learn from it, and go, ‘OK, now next phase of life, enjoy it a little more,'" the New England Patriots Hall of Famer said. He believes part of his hardworking mentality with other ventures today is rooted in his childhood.

"So much [of], I think, the early part of my career was trying to fulfill people’s new expectations of me, and me still being the 14-year-old boy that wanted to fit in. I was like, 'I just want to go to the field and play,'" Brady said. “Now, there was all these other things to choose from."

Brady's first regular-season NFL game as a Fox Sports commentator kicks off Sept. 8 when the Cleveland Browns face off against the Dallas Cowboys.
