Tom Brady's Ex-Teammate Julian Edelman Calls Netflix Roast 'Therapeutic,' Compares It to Locker Room Memories
Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady remains unchallenged on the football field, but last month, the NFL legend found himself in the hot seat as friends, colleagues, and comedians took jabs at him in Netflix's The Roast of Tom Brady. Among the roasters was Brady's former New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman.
Having spent a decade together both on and off the field, Brady and Edelman formed an unbreakable bond and share many memories together. When Edelman looked back on the roast in a new interview with People, he admitted it gave him a sense of déjà vu.
"I thought it was a fun night. Everyone had super thick skin and we all knew what we were there for, and that was to make fun of each other," he said. "I mean, it felt very similar to a locker room. We just did in front of people, which you would feel would be a little inappropriate, but it was fun."
"It felt like a big therapeutic session between everyone that was there, if you know what I mean," he added.

While Brady generally took many of the jokes in stride, he was particularly upset by punchlines that involved his family.
"I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids," he admitted on The Pivot Podcast last month. "It’s the hardest part about… the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world."
He also noted a similarity between that night and his many nights in the locker room with his teammates. "I’m happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun. If we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying. We should have more fun. What do we love? We love laughing in the locker room," he said. "Let’s do more of that and love each other and celebrate other people’s success."
The Roast of Tom Brady is streaming now on Netflix.
