Tom Hollander Takes a Style Cue from Truman Capote on the Emmys Red Carpet

Tom Hollander could take home his first Emmy Award tonight.

The British actor is nominated for his portrayal of Truman Capote in Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, and he arrived on the Emmys red carpet in an outfit that wouldn't be out of place at Captoe's Black and White ball: A classic tuxedo. He was joined by his fiancée, Fran Hickman.

Playing Capote stuck with Hollander long after he wrapped on Feud. "Very rarely are jobs so all-encompassing, for me anyway," he told the Hollywood Reporter. "I was totally wrapped up in it. I would go to bed, learn the lines and go to work. Physically, it took me a long time to get my own shape back because I got heavier to do it. There were a couple of hand gestures that kept coming back for a bit. I’d find myself flopping my hand over from the elbow. But mostly I just miss [the show]. With a wonderful character like that, you’re playing someone cleverer than you, more sensitive than you, more troubled than you, someone extreme, and you walk down the road together for a bit. For a good six months, he was my buddy."

Hollander said, "It’s not every day that you get to play such an amazing part at that level. I’m not a spring chicken, as they say. I’m 56, and to get, in some ways, the most wonderful job of my life in the second half of my 50s is a brilliant, magical thing." Other Feud stars nominated tonight include Naomi Watts (for her portrayal of Babe Paley), Treat Williams (Bill Paley), and Diane Lane (Slim Keith).
