Tom Selleck and Kathie Lee Gifford Recreate Their ‘Live’ Kiss Nearly 20 Years Later
On the fourth hour of Today, Blue Bloods star Tom Selleck and Kathie Lee Gifford took a moment to remember the time they kissed on Live With Regis and Kathie Lee nearly 20 years ago. Selleck’s 1997 film In & Out, in which characters played by Selleck and Kevin Kline are both gay and share a kiss, had recently been released, and Live co-host Regis Philbin had only one thing on his mind: kissing Tom Selleck.
Selleck said he had no problem kissing Kline onscreen but wanted nothing to do with kissing Philbin. When Philbin continued to press, Gifford jumped in and planted one on Selleck.
Selleck said, “Regis wouldn’t quit, and you kind of saved me and said ‘What the hell’ and planted one on me, which was kind of you saying to the audience, ‘He only went there as a tourist.’”
So what’s better than remembering a magical moment? Reliving it. Before too long, Gifford sat on Selleck’s lap and they shared another smooch, again on live television.
