Tommy Hilfiger's NYFW return: Travis Barker closes out rainy outdoor show, Julia Fox models
NEW YORK — The show must go on!
Tommy Hilfiger closed out week one of New York Fashion Week with an element of surprise: heavy rain on an outdoor, aluminum runway.
The audience waited with bated breath under plastic ponchos and umbrellas as employees rushed to sweep the rainfall off the runway before models were due to strut in Hilfiger's "See Now, Buy Now" Fall 2022 collection. The set, dubbed Tommy Factory, was inspired by Andy Warhol's New York City studio where the designer and artist first met.

Rather than fall victim to the less-than-ideal weather, Hilfiger's models including Winnie Harlow, Ashley Graham and Julia Fox used it to their advantage.
Beyoncé's "Renaissance" hits "Break My Soul" and "Summer Renaissance," Missy Elliott's "Lose Control" and Megan Thee Stallion's "Her" blasted through the speakers as models circulated the stage with the New York City skyline behind them.
Audio clips of Hilfiger and Warhol's conversations were also woven into the show.
Hilfiger's Fall 2022 designs featured a new monogram print designed in partnership with Fergus Purcell and British designer Richard Quinn. Classic letterman jackets, turtleneck sweaters and denim sets bore the new monogram.

Front row saw Shawn Mendes, John Legend, Kate Moss, Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker and his daughter Alabama and more.
Other famous faces at Tommy Factory included Law Roach, Cassie, Jon Batiste, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble and Christian Combs.
In a surprise twist, Barker was pulled by a model from his front row seat and brought on stage.
The drummer stripped shirtless as he went on to do a set while the models made one final lap followed by Hilfiger.
Barker's final strikes on the drums marked the end of the show and praise from a delighted, but drenched audience. Everyone did a collective exhale knowing the models were able to stay on their feet.
Plus-size clothing isn't a trend — It's fashion's future, new book 'The Power of Plus' says
Sunday's show marked Hilfiger's return to NYFW after a three-year hiatus.
“My heart immediately went to New York’s iconic creative culture when I thought about where to launch our return to fashion week,” Hilfiger said in a press release of his show. “This is where fashion, art, music and entertainment was all coming together when I first started out in the industry. And today, it is still this approach that inspires me to engage with the cutting-edge communities building new creative experiences."
The designer added: "This season is all about the collision of my favorite archival inspirations with new live event concepts and virtual worlds. It’s the perfect expression of what we stand for as we pay homage to our roots with a return to NYFW.”
