Tony Rico Complains About Not Being Casted In Brother Chris Rock’s Movies
A resurfaced video of Tony Rock accusing Chris Rock of never casting him in his movies is making its way around the internet.
Tony, who’s a comedian himself, spoke about his frustration on The Green Room podcast earlier this year after comedian Aries Spears asked him why he was never in any of his brother’s films.
This prompted Tony to give an explanation about Chris’ choices. "I am going to try to explain to you guys. I am not saying it is going to make sense but my brother…he's a businessman when it comes to movies,” said Tony.
Tony later explained a situation that “crushed him” – when Chris cast him in the film Top 5 but never told him when the film was shooting. Later on, he stated getting called by others involved with the film asking why he was “not on set.”
"Two months in, I get a fucking phone call that says 'Yo, you at the wrap party? We here.’ That sh*t crushed me. I have never seen the movie Top 5," Tony continued.
Hearing this about Tony and Chris is surprising, given how Tony took up for his brother after Will Smith slapped him at the Oscars in 2022. Taking the stage for a set, Tony suggested that he’d whoop Smith’s butt if he had the chance.
“If you think you're gonna walk up on this stage, this ain’t the motherfucking Oscars,” said Tony on stage. “And if you walk your ass up here, you ain’t nominated for shit but these motherfucking hands! Oh, we going to pop the rest of the year, ni**a. Every time you see me do a show, pop!”
Tony then apologized for starting the show with that kind of energy — but he kept it up anyway. “I didn’t want to start the show like that,” he added. “You gonna hit my motherfucking brother because your bitch gave you a side-eye?”
After walking across the stage, Tony declared, “Oh, it’s a lot of Rock brothers, y’all ain’t know, it’s a lot of Rock brothers.”
